I like to think about design, tech, climbing; and bringing people together around these things.
@chopeh Did you literally catch a wild moose or is there some “Uber for Wild Moose” app that enables such a thing?
@fox Remember our conversation about how food in Melbourne is amazing, but so pretentious? I love those sorts of observations and insights.
@chopeh Don’t suppose you were ever a fan of Transport Tycoon?
@sjors Really insightful suggestion—I’ve been looking for opportunities to do just that. @sjors I’ve been thinking about it a lot and it seems to stem from either a form of burnout, imposter syndrome, or a combination of both. @sjors But rather that I have little desire to be near a screen screen outside of work. @sjors Thanks, looks like a great resource! Though, for me it’s less a lack of learning resources (there’s almost too many). @chopeh No doubt. In the last year I’ve completed barista, woodworking, and lead climbing courses. Wish my desire to learn skills for my work was as strong.
Does anyone regularly practice Stoic negative visualisation? What effect has it had on your life?
“Don’t design behaviours the user wouldn’t do if they knew everything you knew.” — @nireyal on ethical design
@harryfk Dataclysm was one of the best I’ve read in past year or so. So many great insights into human behaviour.
@AdamWestbrook That didn’t even make highlight of the week? The bar is set high. 😉
📽 I’m hosting a screening of Design Disruptors and panel discussion. Hope you’ll join me for a great evening. https://t.co/9T3BEFJfmE
Has anyone setup an office in Berlin? Looking for recommendations for Internet, electricity, and gas providers.
@chrischinch Haha, have spent a long time looking for the perfect pannier bag. @chrischinch If a laptop bag is your thing, there are satchels that can be attached to the racks: https://t.co/A2vQvaN2tp @chrischinch Having said that, you can obviously get them with accommodations for laptops. @chrischinch I do on occasion, but a padded sleeve is a must. Most a pannier bags have little in the way of padding and protection. @chrischinch Do you have any requirements? I.e. price, aesthetics, features? @itursh Know of any good design researchers in Berlin I should be talking to? @itursh Ah thanks. @aaronabentheuer, don’t suppose you’ll be in Berlin at the end of September? 😉 @chrischinch My first pair were the Back-Roller Plus (https://t.co/iN212E91Us), but their Urban Line look nice (https://t.co/QhnsG2xoHa). @chrischinch Ortlieb are great value for money. There’s a reason why so many bicycles with a pannier bag have an Ortlieb attached.
@aaronabentheuer Great suggestions! Any individuals in Berlin come to mind? @chopeh Support representatives is great, hadn’t thought of them. @chopeh Any suggestions on roles in particular? Engineers collaborating with designers, product managers, etc.?If you were to attend a panel about design in tech, what would make for a more interesting group of panelists?
@sammargalit Oh great! Will send you a DM.Melbourne friends, looking for a spare room close to the CBD around 10th–31st of October. Any leads?
It just occurred to me that I signed up for a Twitter account on this day in 2006. A decade ago.
@josephcorcoran +1 for Fantastical. I use it on both Mac and iOS.
@paulozoom With a plugin? Or new feature!?
@mark_js After a few years, I’ve still not actually memorised the keyboard layout, so every now and then I find myself hunting for keys. @mark_js Perhaps using both allows you to maintain your muscle memory. I only have fragments of QWERTY left, mostly password reflexes. @mark_js @jegtnes @zachinglis How did you manage to maintain your ability to touch type on QWERTY!? @zachinglis Do be aware that after switching you’ll pretty much be useless an any QWERTY keyboard (touch screen keyboards are still fine). @zachinglis I switched to Dvorak a few years ago. Though I hear Colemak is all the rage these days.
@dotmariusz @josephcorcoran Maybe @WeWorkBER will hire a great in-house barista? Better yet, train me up as one! @dotmariusz Sad, but true. 😭 @josephcorcoran @dotmariusz Will have to check that out. Though, Westberlin is still closer, but a 7 minute cycle. @dotmariusz Wish there was at least one specialty coffee shop here in Potsdamer Platz, lack of good coffee is killing me! @dotmariusz Oh that sounds great. @dotmariusz Oh, exciting! @dotmariusz Yeah I got that, just got a little excited there. Does the new place have a name or anything? @dotmariusz There’s also The Visit opening on Adalbertstraße 9 soon, so you’re going to be so spoilt for choice around there. @dotmariusz Where, where!?
Received one of my best compliments from a developer today—that my design work had not only made the product better, but his code too.
@brentriddell Check out the Airbnb iOS app.
@itsluke What time were you thinking? Might try to drop by.
It’s too cold for the beer garden anyway right? https://t.co/ZypGBjApKa
